From King's Square walk up King Street to the left of the little triangular walled lawn containing a bust of Tom Moore. On your left is Bridge House, built shortly after 1700, a home of several Governors and later of Bridger Goodrich, a Virginian loyalist who fled to Bermuda, and whose privateers once blockaded Chesapeake Bay, to the chagrin of Thomas Jefferson. Goodrich's privateers also snapped up Bermuda vessels trading with the 'enemy' - the rebellious American colonies - and Bermudians did not like the man. Bridge House is now an art gallery and private apartments. It is owned by the Bermuda National Trust.
